We regularly hear from people who thought they were buying a COLORSTEEL® roof but instead received something else, only becoming aware of the fact, when premature fading began to occur. There are a number of steps you can take to ensure you’re getting genuine and authentic COLORSTEEL® - made in New Zealand, designed tested and approved for New Zealand conditions. For peace of mind, follow these steps to ensure you're getting genuine COLORSTEEL®.

Easy Checks:

  • Make sure when you're picking your roof or wall cladding colour, it is from a branded COLORSTEEL® colour chart, brochure or physical sample. If our brand name is not shown, its not genuine COLORSTEEL®. And don't be fooled, our products don't go by any other name other than COLORSTEEL®.
  • Our free pre-painted physical colour samples, have our brand name indented onto them, so there's no confusion for you.

  • Ask your supplier to confirm in writing (your quote or building specification documentation) they are supplying genuine COLORSTEEL® made by New Zealand Steel®. Ensure they confirm the COLORSTEEL® product solution, gauge and colour.

Example:

Product Solution: COLORSTEEL MAXAM®, Altimate® or Dridex®

Gauge: (Typically) 0.40mm or 0.55mm

Colour: COLORSTEEL FlaxPod®

  • Once your product arrives onsite, turn over a sheet of material onto the non-coloured side. If it's genuine COLORSTEEL® you will see small black COLORSTEEL® branding.

  • Often your COLORSTEEL® product will arrive onsite with a COLORSTEEL® branded protective film on the front side (over the coloured side).

  • At the end of your project, make sure to request a copy of your COLORSTEEL® warranty from your installers or building team.

We are always happy to assist, so if you have any concerns that you are being sold something other than the real thing, get in touch and we will be happy to confirm for you. New Zealand’s harsh and unique environmental conditions, demand building materials of the highest quality. Created by New Zealand Steel®, COLORSTEEL® is a robust, time-tested and approved product, that has been keeping Kiwis safe, warm and dry for more than 40 years.
